out of a Hat!
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
If you want a fun family Easter event that is about 10 times more exciting than
the typical Easter egg hunt, then bring the kids to the 13th Annual Midtown
Easter Frolic and Egg Hunt in Hyde Park at 38th & Gillham. Kansas City’s biggest
Easter festival – which runs from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 4th
– offers a variety of entertaining activities for children and families.
Everything is free and open to the public.
• Pony rides in the park – children only.
• Face painting and other crafts booths.
• Supervised games for children.
• Egg Hunt (organized by age groups) for plastic eggs filled with candy. (1:15
p.m.)
• Family photo with the giant Hyde Park Easter Bunny.
• Prizes, giveaways and refreshments, including balloon animals and popcorn.
Come early. The festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. when the giant Hyde Park Easter
Bunny will delight children by jumping out of a hat. Youngsters 10 and under
will want to ride the gentle ponies before and after the egg hunt. At 1:15 p.m.,
children through age 10 can participate in the egg hunt, which will be organized
by age groups to give every child a chance to find plenty of plastic eggs filled
with candy. Activity booths and supervised games will be ongoing throughout the
event, which ends a 2:30 p.m.

MIDTOWN MULTI-FAITH EASTER CELEBRATION TO FEATURE ROUSING, NEW ORLEANS
STYLE FUNERAL MUSIC AND THE SHORTEST (40 WORDS) EASTER SERMON ON RECORD
Weather permitting, the worship service will be held outdoors to accommodate
growing interest in the annual event, which this year includes performances by
Jimmy Dykes and the Loose Cannon Brass Band, Danny Cox, Joe Miquelon plus Bob
Walkenhorst & Una Walkenhorst.
Join us at Pilgrim Chapel, midtown’s popular multi-faith church, for what we
believe will be the most lively and spiritually uplifting Easter worship service
in the metropolitan area. This Easter Sunday event will feature rousing,
original music and song performed by area musicians; the world’s shortest (40
words) Easter sermon; plus the Eucharist, readings and other elements of a
traditional Easter worship service.
Pilgrim Chapel has earned a reputation for sponsoring holiday services that are
unique, entertaining and, at the same time, spiritually relevant. This year, the
chapel’s pastor, Roger Coleman, joined forces with local musician Joe Miquelon
to write a New Orleans-style funeral song, Take Me Out Kicking, a rollicking,
somewhat humorous, celebration of life. It will be performed by Jimmy Dykes and
the Loose Cannon Brass Band. The song ends with Coleman’s inspirational, 40-word
message about hope and salvation. Other area musicians who will perform during
the service include Danny Cox and Bob Walkenhorst & Una Walkenhorst.
The Reverend Elizabeth Coleman, co-pastor of Pilgrim Chapel, will officiate with
Roger Coleman at the Easter service.
